Dementia Advocate

We are seeking a proactive and compassionate individual to join our team as an Advocate Volunteer. As an Advocate Volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting people living with dementia in the community, ensuring they can express their views, concerns, and wishes.
Through building strong relationships with the people you support and their carers, you will make a significant difference in their lives, empowering them to make informed decisions and have their rights upheld.
The Selby and surrounding area Dementia Adviser and Support team are committed to providing high-quality support and advice services to people affected by dementia. As an Advocate Volunteer, you will be an integral part of this team, helping to ensure that people in your local community are aware of the support available to them.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Visiting people living with dementia in the community to support with advocacy cases
- Establishing strong trusting relationships with the people you support and their carers
- Empowering people living with dementia to express their views, concerns, and wishes
- Working collaboratively with the Dementia Adviser and Support team to provide high-quality support and advice services
We are looking for someone who is passionate about empowering people living with dementia and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. If you are a motivated and compassionate individual who is looking to make a difference in the lives of others, we would love to hear from you.
