Financial Performance Analyst

The primary responsibility of this position is to pinpoint critical obstacles through consistent Work In Progress (WIP) assessments, ensure that underlying issues are addressed, prepare billing projections, and enhance billing quality in alignment with established targets. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and nurturing relationships across various departments with Partners, administrative staff, and operational managers.
  • Participating in regular WIP assessment meetings to comprehend the nature of WIP balances and agree on suitable billing strategies.
  • Evaluating aged WIP, missed billing objectives, and high WIP/lockup durations while coordinating necessary escalations.
  • Overseeing and finalizing billing forecasts and striving for high-quality billing outcomes.
  • Assisting with complex billing and electronic billing challenges.
  • Coordinating reviews and billing commitments, updating billing statuses for significant matters and clients.
  • Monitoring processing timelines with actions approved by Partners.
  • Tracking non-billable activities related to out-of-scope work, overruns, and disbursements.
  • Supervising WIP write-off and write-down activities.
  • Identifying matters that necessitate escalation to facilitate billing actions and communicating relevant information to the WIP Management team.
  • Analyzing the Practice WIP ledgers to determine priorities and potential risks.
  • Risk and Compliance: Ensuring that all tasks and responsibilities are executed in full adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Maintaining and regularly updating matter WIP activities in accordance with best practices.
  • Generating reports for major client accounts, partners, or clients as required.
  • Preparing and dispatching WIP management-related communications to internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting WIP review and pre-billing processes as necessary.
  • Attending WIP portfolio review meetings to address outstanding issues.
  • Reviewing Practice billing and reversal activities to highlight root causes.

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Prior experience in WIP management or billing roles, preferably within legal or professional services.
  • Demonstrated understanding of WIP processes, reporting, and risk management.
  • Experience in a law firm is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Strong negotiation and practical problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to perform under tight deadlines and pressure.
  • Organized and methodical work style.
  • A collaborative team player with a flexible approach.
  • Proven track record of meeting targets and deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and self-driven.
  • Familiarity with SRA regulations is preferred.
  • Comfortable working with Enterprise IT systems, ideally ERPs like Elite 3e.
