Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Clinical Specialist in Early Intervention in Psychosis.

This role is part of a well-equipped team comprising mental health professionals, including nurses, social workers, psychologists, and peer support staff. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals, which is immensely fulfilling.

We focus on providing specialized services to individuals aged 14-65 who are either experiencing or are at significant risk of their initial episode of psychosis.

In this position, you will have the autonomy to operate independently while being supported by a robust team of healthcare professionals. Your responsibilities will include conducting assessments, coordinating care, engaging in outreach, and providing support to families and caregivers through education and collaboration for those facing their first episode of psychosis, aiming to minimize the duration of untreated psychosis.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

  • Conducting initial triage of referrals, assessments, outreach, education, and collaboration for young individuals and adults experiencing their first episode of psychosis, with the goal of reducing the duration of untreated psychosis.
  • Delivering personalized therapy and support, as well as family interventions, as part of the Family Support Service.
  • Participating in training opportunities, including a comprehensive 10-day course in Family Intervention in partnership with a recognized university, along with ongoing supervision and support from your manager.

Job Responsibilities

Professional Duties

  • Serve as the primary contact for triaging referrals related to individuals experiencing their first episode of psychosis, providing expert guidance on care options for patients and their families.
  • Deliver a specialized community outreach service for individuals with suspected psychosis who may struggle to engage with primary or secondary care.
  • Maintain and enhance high standards of care delivery through collaboration with colleagues, audits, and supervision.
  • Stay informed about developments in mental health, research, and service enhancements.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic interventions for service users facing various mental health challenges.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Social Work, or Occupational Therapy qualification.
  • Current registration with the relevant professional body.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in an acute care setting.

Desirable

  • Degree or diploma in family interventions in psychosis or related fields.
  • Other relevant specialist qualifications.

Experience

Essential

  • Familiarity with early intervention principles and research.
  • Significant post-registration experience in multidisciplinary community mental health services.
  • Experience in managing clients' physical health, including relevant training.
  • Strong knowledge of health and social care resources and practices.
  • Ability to innovate in practice.
  • Experience in risk management for clients in crisis.

Desirable

  • Experience with mental health challenges.
