Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Protection Counsel to join our client, a FTSE 100 multinational FMCG company with global operations in 53 countries. As a Data Protection Counsel, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with data protection regulations and laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Specialist Data Protection Legal Advice
    • Assess and advise on compliance gaps for the businesses
    • Develop and deliver training on data protection best practices
    • Advise on incidents and data breaches
    • Produce policies, guidance materials, and templates for data protection compliance
    • Maintain a regular dialogue with Data Protection Co-ordinators across the businesses
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Data Protection and E-Privacy Law and Practice
    • Keep abreast of changes in data protection and e-privacy law and practice in the UK and EMEA
    • Inform the legal team and the businesses of any changes required to the compliance approach
  • Provide Timely, Accurate, Quality Legal Advice
    • Provide legal advice on all aspects of data protection and e-privacy to the businesses
  • Prepare and Deliver Data Protection and E-Privacy Training Sessions
    • Deliver training sessions on data protection and e-privacy best practices
  • Draft, Review, Negotiate, and Advise on Commercial Arrangements
    • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on commercial arrangements that impact on data protection
  • Work Collaboratively with the Data Protection Team
    • Take a proactive and collaborative approach to managing data protection advisory work
  • Contribute to the Wider Legal Team
    • Share knowledge and develop precedents with the wider legal team
  • Manage External Legal Advisers
    • Manage external legal advisers to ensure cost-effective and commercial advice
