Job Title - Cost Manager (Mechanical & Electrical)

Project - Large Mixed-Use Development in East London

Salary - Up to £95,000 plus bonus and excellent benefits package

Client and Job Summary:

Cobalt Consulting (UK) Ltd is working with a well-established contractor on a flagship mixed-use project in East London. The successful candidate will assist in the financial and contractual management of Mechanical & Electrical aspects.

  1. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations as outlined in the client's Health Safety and Welfare manual and Health and Safety Plan.
  2. Manage specific elements of work allocated by the Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive.
  3. Assist with commercial evaluation of tenders, including meetings, supplemental bid documentation, and recommendation reports.
  4. Review trade contract and consultant submittals from a commercial perspective, report, and respond as necessary.
  5. Liaise with contractors and/or client representatives to ensure instructions are raised and acted upon, costs received, agreed, and change orders issued regularly.
  6. Ensure accounts are kept up to date throughout the contract duration.
  7. Assist in inspecting trade contract works for quality and completion from a commercial perspective and advise or resolve as necessary.
  8. Prepare interim valuations for progress payments.
  9. Negotiate and prepare final accounts.
  10. Project cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
  11. Analysis of final accounts to provide information for cost planning purposes.
  12. Assist with the preparation of insurance claim documentation.
  13. Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive.

Requirements:

  1. Quantity Surveying practical work experience, ideally on large commercial and/or residential projects working on Mechanical & Electrical packages, is highly desirable.
  2. A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred.
  3. Computer literacy is an essential requirement for this role.
  4. The successful candidate must be able to maintain excellent working relationships with the project team and all levels of the organisation.
