Job Title: Consultant Psychiatrist - Female PICU

We are seeking an experienced part-time Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Woking. The successful candidate will provide senior medical cover on Acorn Ward, our 10-bed female mental health PICU service.

The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required. They will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance with GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress to Medical Director Level through our management schemes.

Main Duties:

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Providing psychiatric care to patients on Acorn Ward, our 10-bed female mental health PICU service
  • Referring patients to the service and working closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers etc.)
  • Acting as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors and other staff
Person Specification:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
  • Experienced & knowledgeable in adult psychiatry & mental health diagnosis
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
