Sheffield City Council is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our esteemed Children Looked After service.

Our team focuses on supporting children and young people at various stages of their care journey, from early intervention through adoption. We strive to foster positive relationships and understanding as they navigate legal proceedings and develop secure permanency plans.

  • Children in care receive an outstanding service that significantly improves their life experiences.
  • Children enter care only when absolutely necessary and appropriate for their well-being.
  • Specialist edge-of-care workers provide exceptional support to children at risk, enabling many to remain safely at home.
  • We also effectively support children who have entered care to safely reunite with their parents in line with their best interests.
  • Admissions to care are carefully planned and managed through a panel process, ensuring all avenues are explored and the most suitable placement is identified.

We are looking for candidates with proven experience working with vulnerable children and families. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience supporting children looked after with family time and life story work;
  • Ability to assist children and young people in accessing appropriate activities;
  • Knowledge of passport applications;
  • Direct work experience to support overall well-being;
  • Experience transporting children and/or their belongings;
  • Organizational skills for arranging and delivering resources;
  • Ability to make referrals;
  • Support for life appreciation days;
  • Experience supporting duty alongside social workers.
