Job Title:

Clinical Psychologist - Diabetes Psychiatry and Psychology Service

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our Diabetes Psychiatry and Psychology Service as part of the adult diabetes team at King's College Hospital. The successful candidate will provide specialist psychological screening, assessment, and treatment to patients with type 1/complex type 2 diabetes and associated psychological difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide specialist psychological screening, assessment, and treatment to patients with type 1/complex type 2 diabetes and associated psychological difficulties.
  2. Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide psychological expertise and support.
  3. Develop and implement individual and group-based interventions to address issues related to adjustment to the condition, effective diabetes management, and psychological and emotional wellbeing.
  4. Collaborate with experts in the field of diabetes to provide comprehensive care to patients with complex medical conditions.
  5. Contribute to the development and implementation of research and development projects within the service.
Requirements:
  1. Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional).
  2. Additional training in a specialised area of psychological practice through formal post-qualification training (PG Diploma or equivalent).
  3. Completed training course in clinical supervision.
  4. Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
  5. Evidence of having worked with people with medical conditions as a clinical specialist under supervision.
  6. Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of complex psychological and physical health needs.
Desirable:
  1. Competence and/or specialist training in models of health psychology and/or behaviour change.
  2. Experience in the provision of cognitive behavioural therapy and/or systemic approaches to therapy.
  3. Experience in the psychological management of diabetes.
  4. Experience of undertaking and interpreting neuropsychological assessments and writing reports based on the results.
