The Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a key role that will contribute to the safe, effective, and efficient operation of our production equipment. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all assigned maintenance work is completed to the required standards, and that all equipment is properly maintained and repaired.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform proactive and reactive maintenance and repairs to plant equipment
  • Plan and execute planned maintenance (PPM), modifications, installations, and upgrades to plant machinery and site services
  • Apply and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines
  • Work across mechanical and electrical trades as qualified
  • Improve site production processes and plant design to minimize downtime and improve safety and quality
  • Repair, refurbish, and modify all pipework and valves, including gas, ingredient lines, pneumatics, water heating systems, and water jackets
  • Maintain and repair steam pressure vessels and pipework, including boilers, calorifiers, steam traps, and condensates
  • Complete all work on our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Identify areas of improvement to reduce downtime or increase efficiency, and reduce energy consumption

Requirements

  • Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering discipline (HNC preferred)
  • IOSH Working Safely certification
  • Food Safety/Hygiene qualification
  • Knowledge of planned maintenance systems (Shire)
  • Manufacturing background (preferably food industry)
  • Ability to undertake self-measurement and development as appropriate
  • Root cause analysis and fault-finding skills
  • Full understanding and compliance with site Permit to Work and Isolation procedures
