Group therapy options are available at all levels, including specialized groups such as:

  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Group
  • Living Well Group (for clients managing long-term conditions)

The advanced service provision incorporates enhanced therapeutic options, including CBT, EMDR, counseling, and other specialized therapies for clients with complex clinical presentations. Additionally, psycho-dynamic therapy and psycho-sexual therapy are offered.

Job Responsibilities

The post holder will be tasked with providing CBT-based assessments, formulations, and treatments for individuals experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues. This includes opportunities for both group-based interventions and one-on-one client work. The role allows for a combination of remote and in-person responsibilities.

The successful candidate will manage a clinical caseload for clients referred to the service who are suitable for advanced intervention, in accordance with the organization's operational policies and treatment guidelines. The role involves working towards national service targets, which are closely monitored by relevant health authorities.

Monthly clinical supervision attendance is required to foster professional development, promote clinical excellence, and ensure safe therapeutic practices. High standards of clinical governance are expected, including thorough documentation as mandated by the service, in collaboration with the line manager and clinical leads.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Completion of IAPT High Intensity training or a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology, with an expectation of BABCP accreditation or progress towards it.
  • BABCP Accreditation.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Eligibility for Chartered Psychologist status with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Additional training in specialized areas of psychological practice, such as CBT, IPT, CAT, DBT, or solution-focused therapy, particularly those recommended by NICE.
  • Training in the supervision of trainees and other therapists.

Essential Experience

  • Documented experience as a qualified psychologist or CBT therapist, or as a mental health specialist delivering CBT.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of patient presentations.
  • Experience in working with children and adolescents.
  • Proficiency in conducting specialized psychological assessments, formulations, and treatments.
