Job Purpose:

To oversee the efficient and effective delivery of a catering service in a mobile unit setting, ensuring high-quality food and excellent customer service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Service Delivery/Operational Issues:

1. Plan and execute skilled cooking activities to provide a full range of menu options, including special dietary meals and function catering.

2. Organize and supervise food service operations, including transportation of meals and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas.

3. Promote the service through effective communication with parents, principals, and customers to increase meal uptake.

4. Ensure compliance with food safety legislation and health and safety regulations.

5. Secure the unit and maintain effective communication links with the school.

6. Participate in the implementation of policies related to staff issues, including attendance, discipline, and grievances.

People Management:

1. Supervise and direct other employees, allocating duties and work rotas as needed.

2. Provide induction and ongoing staff training to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Financial:

1. Complete clerical duties associated with the efficient running of the kitchen, including cash handling.

2. Manage resources, including food, labor, overheads, and equipment, to ensure effective service delivery.

General Conditions:

1. Comply with Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments, and Regulations, as well as Codes of Practice.

2. Carry out duties in accordance with working conditions and complete necessary administration tasks.

3. Promote and adhere to the values and ethos of the Education Authority.

Safeguarding:

The successful applicant will require an enhanced disclosure check, which will be arranged by the Education Authority.
