About the Role

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking a highly experienced and influential medical leader to join our team as Chief Medical Officer. As a key member of our executive team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our Trust and ensuring that we deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of a long-term medical leadership workplan that supports the Trust's strategy and objectives.
  • Provide strong and effective medical and clinical leadership and advice to inform corporate decisions.
  • Ensure that the Trust delivers all of its clinical targets, including those connected with clinical indicators, cancer, ED targets, and financial balance.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Trust policy, procedures, and practices align with GMC guidance on 'Duties of a Doctor', 'Maintaining Good Medical Practice', and 'Maintaining High Professional Standards'.
  • Establish and maintain regular and effective communication with the medical workforce to ensure a corporate approach to the development of medical policy and clinical protocols.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of successful medical leadership in a large complex organisation.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience at Consultant level, with current GMC/GDC registration and inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
