Position Title: Principal/Senior Executive Officers (Governance)

Role Type: Volunteer

Work Arrangement: Remote

The Blockchain & Climate Institute is seeking dedicated VOLUNTEERS who adopt a strategic mindset in their endeavors, cultivate professional relationships with stakeholders, and create opportunities for the advancement of the organization. The Senior Executive Officer will assist the Company Secretary and contribute to the broader initiatives of the Governance Support Bureau and the Director-General.

This is a voluntary unpaid position, consistent with all roles within the BCI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing administrative assistance to the Director-General while ensuring effective governance within the BCI;
  • Support the Governance Support Bureau in enhancing the governance framework and processes of the BCI;
  • Contribute to the development of BCI membership;
  • Assist with general resource management tasks;
  • Mentor junior volunteers and aid the Principal Executive Officer (Governance) and the Company Secretary in managing team workflows. Participate in blockchain-related events on behalf of the BCI;
  • Assist the Director-General and other relevant BCI members during conferences and events.

Qualifications:

Skills & Competencies:

  • Exceptional verbal communication skills, capable of fostering effective working relationships, adapting flexibly across professional and operational boundaries, and engaging professionally and diplomatically with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Strong proficiency in English writing;
  • Meticulous attention to detail;
  • Outstanding organizational abilities and the capacity to manage competing priorities under pressure.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
  • In-depth understanding of topics pertinent to the BCI, such as climate change, climate finance, and blockchain technology is preferred.

Educational Background:

  • A relevant degree or training in Business, Climate Change, Environmental Science, or Finance is preferred;
  • A demonstrable interest in corporate governance, including qualifications in corporate governance or company secretarial work, is preferred.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in organization/business administration, including a track record of independently leading projects;
  • Experience in supporting committees or Boards is preferred;
  • Background in a target-driven role;
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and develop strategies within an environment-focused organization;
  • Experience in building constructive relationships with stakeholders;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teams to advance projects using initiative.

Selection Process:

As a voluntary organization, we welcome candidates who may lack prior experience but possess the necessary skills. The BCI is committed to considering all applicants, including those without extensive backgrounds, as long as they can demonstrate the required competencies in the written assessment. The selection process will involve the following assessments:

Section A: Verbal and Numerical Reasoning (20 multiple-choice questions)

Section B: Situational Judgment Test (20 multiple-choice questions)

Section C: In-Tray Exercise (An open-ended assessment relevant to the duties of the role)

Candidates who successfully complete all three sections will be invited for a phone screening, followed by a first and final interview conducted online.
