Job Overview: Senior EC&I Engineer

The Senior EC&I Engineer plays a crucial role in outlining and distributing project scopes to guarantee the safe and efficient execution of assignments while adhering to high-quality standards. This position involves supervising the provision of design and engineering solutions that align with technical specifications.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to the Principal EC&I Engineer

Core Responsibilities:

  • Create designs that fulfill technical specifications
  • Generate design deliverables throughout the project lifecycle
  • Review and authorize discipline-specific design outputs
  • Participate in design and safety evaluations
  • Ensure prompt delivery of design documentation
  • Adhere to safety regulations
  • Develop cost-efficient technical solutions
  • Foster staff development
  • Promote safety management and cultural reinforcement
  • Manage contractors effectively
  • Offer technical consultancy services

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Chartered status in a discipline-specific engineering institution (or actively pursuing)
  • Strong grasp of engineering principles
  • Proficiency in specific EC&I domains such as Mechanical Handling, Process Instrumentation, Functional Safety, Machinery Safety, and LV Distribution Systems
  • Prior experience in the nuclear sector
  • Proven track record of successful design implementation
  • Knowledge of design criteria for nuclear safety
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities
  • Commercial insight
  • Experience in leading design teams and managing subcontractors

Preferred Skills:

  • Full membership in a discipline-specific engineering institution
  • Valid UK driving license
  • Integration of EC&I design with control systems
  • Experience in Design Substantiation and proposal preparation
  • SC Security Clearance is a plus
