Job Title: Peer Support Worker I

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Peer Support Worker I to join our Mental Health Substance Use (MHSU) Homelessness team in Cranbrook, B.C.

Job Summary:

A Peer Support Worker is someone with lived experience of recovery from a substance use disorder, providing support to others experiencing similar challenges.

The Peer Support Worker's role is to assist individuals in finding and following their own recovery paths, without judgment, expectation, rules, or requirements.

The Peer Support Worker shares their own lived experience of substance use, mental health, and knowledge of accessing healthcare, services, and supports to assist MHSU clients in their identified goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional and social support to clients
  • Assist clients in accessing healthcare, services, and supports
  • Collaborate with the MHSU team to meet individual needs and situational requirements
  • Provide information from a lived experience perspective to assist clients in obtaining services from other MHSU team staff, external service providers, and community resources
  • Work in collaboration with the MHSU team to support clients' self-identified goals for recovery and community integration
Scheduling Information:

Shift types are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours, with days of work being Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
