Job Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to join our Projects team. This role involves overseeing the installation and commissioning of various electrical systems, including Underground, Overhead, Plant, and Protection systems, tailored to your expertise and experience within the distribution network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of Underground, Overhead, Plant, and Protection systems on the 132kV and 33kV networks.
  • Identify and restore complex faults within the network.
  • Enhance the use of fault location and protection testing tools.
  • Provide guidance to team members on advancements in electricity network management and automation.
  • Assess and address the training needs of team members, offering necessary training on automation.
  • Collaborate with other specialists within the organization.
  • Educate staff on the operational aspects of automated systems.
  • Stay updated on developments in equipment and automation systems.
  • Plan short-term activities within established constraints.
  • Conduct network operations, including issuing safety documents up to 132kV.
  • Determine the requirements and methodologies for task execution.
  • Manage planned shutdown notifications and coordinate with customers.
  • Demonstrate leadership and seek assistance when necessary.
  • Adjust short-term plans to accommodate changing circumstances.
  • Assist in evaluating and authorizing operational staff.
  • Participate in standby management as part of the role's responsibilities.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess a Level 3 City & Guilds 2339 qualification and, if not already obtained, will be required to pursue an HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Proof of qualifications will be necessary prior to appointment.

Appropriate training and support will be provided to ensure the successful candidate can achieve their full potential in this role.
