Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Support Worker to join the excellent Theatre team at St Hugh's Hospital.

Main Responsibilities
  • To assist the Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner in delivering high-quality patient care by undertaking non-clinical duties under supervision.
  • To ensure the cleanliness of the Theatre Department and the care and maintenance of equipment in line with Hospital policies and procedures.
  • To be conversant with all aspects of the Stores ordering system, stock levels, and supply in the Theatre Department.
  • To liaise between Theatres and the ward to escort patients to Theatre prior to their operation.
  • To participate in providing optimum patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse or ODP and raise any issues of concern.

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure any accidents/incidents are reported and recorded according to hospital policy/procedure.
  • Ensure that the theatre department is clean and tidy at all times.
  • Assist Nursing staff in putting out instruments for the following day's Operating List.
  • Attend infection control updates and be a link person for the department.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed correctly and available for audit purposes.
Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic IT Skills.
  • The ability to plan and control the use of resources.

Experience

  • Previous experience in management of stock control.

  • Organised.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
