As a Specialist Mentor, you will play a vital part in supporting Higher Education students with disabilities/mental health conditions, helping them to overcome their unique challenges and achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support to students with disabilities/mental health conditions, helping them to develop coping strategies and techniques to overcome their particular difficulties.
  • Work collaboratively with students, academic staff, and other support services to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the needs and requirements of students with disabilities/mental health conditions, ensuring that support is tailored to meet their individual needs.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training and professional development opportunities for staff and students.
Requirements:
  • Experience of working with students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) in higher or further education.
  • Relevant professional qualifications, such as a postgraduate qualification in mental health or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
