Job Title: Registered Nurse Learning Disability
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse Learning Disability to join our team at Sturdee Community Hospital. As a RNLD, you will have the opportunity to work with individuals with learning disabilities in a mental health setting, providing high-quality nursing care and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals with learning disabilities, including environmental and personalised sensory assessments.
- Develop individualised care plans based on the assessment, considering the unique needs and abilities of each person.
- Provide high-quality nursing care to individuals with learning disabilities, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring they receive appropriate medical attention.
- Implement behavioural support plans to manage challenging behaviours associated with learning disabilities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and maintain effective strategies for behaviour management.
- Act as an advocate for individuals with learning disabilities, communicating effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to create a holistic approach to mental health care for individuals with learning disabilities.
- Provide training and education to individuals, their families, and support staff on topics related to mental health and learning disabilities.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in learning disabilities, attending relevant training programs and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
- Hold a valid NMC Pin.
- Ability to work on shift/rota pattern.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Experience of working with patients with ASD.
- Experience of working in a Mental Health setting.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and sections.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a mental health setting.
