About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Project Planner to join our team at Laing O'Rourke Expanded Business Group.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing programme strategies for clients, ensuring compliance with project requirements and delivering high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Programme Development: Develop and agree logical sequences of events to ensure the most economical and advantageous construction strategy is adopted.
  • Pre-Contract Planning: Carry out pre-contract planning and work-winning processes to produce bid programmes and associated time-related information.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze performance and advise the project team on likely impacts and recommend improvements.
  • Risk Management: Contribute to the identification and mitigation of risks, opportunities, and commercial implications of tender bids.
  • Communication: Present time-related material using various techniques and methods, providing effective communication and high-quality submission and presentation materials.
  • Contract Management: Independently produce processes and systems to manage contracts for complex projects.
  • Forensic Analysis: Carry out forensic analysis of programme data and interface with client teams to build effective relationships.
  • Contract Optimization: Apply comprehensive knowledge of different types of contracts to ensure control measures are aligned with contract risk and commercial opportunities are optimized.
  • Project Management: Develop and introduce advanced project management techniques to the Laing O'Rourke business and establish them for use on technical and complex projects.
Requirements
  • Education: Desired degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar sector-related field.
  • Certifications: CIOB membership.
  • Skills: Proficiency in modelling and 4D planning, as well as Asta or P6, preferably both to a high standard.
  • Experience: Major project experience is essential.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze, collate, and utilize a range of data and information for reporting and forecasting.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead the planning function on a project, manage resources, and develop business advancements/improvement agendas.
