About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Geologist to join our Geomaterials Department at Sandberg, a leading materials consultancy with a rich history dating back over 160 years. The successful candidate will be based in our London laboratories and will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of materials-related projects, both in the UK and abroad.

The Role

The successful applicant will be working with a well-qualified team with a wide range of geological, chemical, materials science and engineering expertise and experience, to assess and advise on a wide range of materials-related issues. We work with high profile projects and clients which are many and varied.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting microscopical analysis of both natural and man-made materials.
  • Investigating and testing construction materials, both natural, such as rock, stone, slate and aggregate; and man-made, such as concrete, render, plaster and mortar.
  • Assisting with on-site testing and investigations.
  • Laboratory testing to ensure that materials comply with the relevant specifications.
  • Liaising with clients and managing projects.
  • Collating and analysing test data, preparing test reports.
  • Performing mineralogical and elemental analysis using SEM and XRD.

Requirements:

  • 5 or more years of experience in a similar industry.
  • A good degree in Geology or Materials Science, with knowledge of construction materials.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A dynamic work ethic to learn and develop new skills.
  • The ability to work professionally as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills.
  • A full UK or EU driving licence.
