Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opening for a Senior Psychiatric Consultant role, integral to our local mental health transformation initiatives. This full-time position (10 PA) will involve providing clinical guidance and psychiatric proficiency to the multidisciplinary integrated community mental health teams within the Primary Care Network (PCN). Each Senior Psychiatric Consultant will have the opportunity to forge strong collaborations with General Practitioners within a single PCN, enhancing the quality of community mental health services.

Key Responsibilities

We seek proactive professionals with a minimum of five years of experience in mental health services. Ideal candidates will be outstanding clinicians, inspiring leaders, and dedicated mentors who are committed to ongoing service enhancement. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a dedication to community care for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively and adaptively within a multidisciplinary team.

Candidates must hold membership with the Royal College of Psychiatrists (or an equivalent body) and possess their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be eligible for inclusion on the specialist register.

This role will report directly to the Clinical Director, Clinical Lead, and Service Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

Desirable Qualifications

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management
  • MRCPsych
  • Additional clinical qualifications

Eligibility Criteria

Essential

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment
  • GMC Specialist Register or eligibility within six months
  • Approved clinician status or ability to achieve within three months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 or ability to achieve within three months of appointment

Desirable Criteria

  • Good standing with GMC regarding warnings and conditions on practice

Clinical Expertise

  • In-depth knowledge in specialty
