Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opening for a Senior Psychiatric Consultant role, integral to our ongoing transformation efforts. This full-time position (10 PA) will be pivotal in providing clinical direction and psychiatric knowledge to our multidisciplinary integrated community mental health teams within the Primary Care Network (PCN). Each Senior Psychiatric Consultant will have the unique opportunity to forge strong partnerships and collaborate closely with General Practitioners in a singular PCN. Our community mental health initiative focuses on comprehensive engagement with Integrated Care Systems, employing a holistic approach to health that encompasses the entire population.

Key Responsibilities

We seek dynamic professionals with a minimum of five years of experience in mental health services, who are not only skilled clinicians but also enthusiastic leaders and mentors committed to ongoing service enhancement. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal abilities, demonstrate a dedication to community mental health care, and exhibit flexibility in working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Applicants must be members of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (or equivalent) and should hold their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be eligible for inclusion on the specialist register.

The position reports directly to the Clinical Director, Clinical Lead, and Service Manager.

Essential Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

Desirable Qualifications

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management
  • MRCPsych
  • Additional clinical qualifications

Eligibility Criteria

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment
  • GMC Specialist Register or eligibility within six months
  • Approved clinician status or ability to achieve within three months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 or ability to achieve within three months of appointment

Clinical Knowledge and Skills

  • Exceptional clinical skills
  • Ability to fulfill duties under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
