Our Mace Consultancy in the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Sector aims to transform the industry. Since its inception in 2013, our team has expanded in size and scope, with professionals located across the UK, Europe, and America, and extending our reach globally.
We offer comprehensive consultancy services for some of the most distinguished and innovative life science projects, including manufacturing facilities for leading market players. By utilizing cutting-edge innovation, regional knowledge, and global best practices, we continuously enhance infrastructure delivery, advising on essential public services and culturally significant works; fostering growth and executing some of the world's most technically intricate and inspiring projects.

You will champion Mace's commitment to safety, taking responsibility for upholding exceptional standards in safety, quality, cost, program, sustainability, and project compliance. You will have technical knowledge of local health and safety regulations pertinent to the project portfolio. You will assist in cost planning, including ownership of and presenting cost plans to clients and internal stakeholders. You will facilitate the procurement process, ensuring that stages such as prequalification, inquiry, analysis, selection, and contract preparation are executed effectively. You will contribute to the provision of cost management services that achieve key strategic outcomes and KPIs, directly influencing the strategic development of plans. Deliver project quantity surveying and cost management services to a high standard, supporting contract administration, cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, and purchase order management. Implement a cohesive cost management strategy for the project, utilizing contractor reporting and considering project contracting strategies and team structure. Apply standard work breakdown structure (WBS) principles from the project's early stages. Address escalated issues with contractors effectively. Manage framework contracts, including annual inflation adjustments, advising on contract strategy, tender preparation, and analysis. Lead and assist the team in developing the project control plan for various initiatives. Prepare precise cost reports and forecasts monthly, reviewing inputs from contractors and suppliers. Review cost reports with project managers and at management levels. Develop and maintain reports, including cost analysis and forecasts, cash flows, cost variance performance reporting, and trends in contingency and management reserves. Conduct project commercial and financial control functions, including contract administration, invoice review, purchase requisition support, asset registration, and ensuring compliance with company policies. Create and maintain project reports, including financial analysis and forecasts, cash flows, trends in contingency/management reserves, and project risk assessments affecting schedule and cost.Integrity - Upholding Ethical Standards:
You will support management operations that are financially and ethically sound, influencing the achievement of business objectives that align with compliance obligations. You will collaborate towards the common goal of achieving net-zero carbon transition and share responsibility for proactively identifying and managing associated carbon emissions and reductions during project delivery. You will commit to making a positive impact for our people, clients, and the planet, holding others accountable for upholding Mace's values.Creating Opportunities - Enabling Excellence:
You will lead teams, demonstrating effective leadership to ensure excellence in delivery against plans, fostering a culture of continuous improvement throughout all activities. You will actively network, innovate, and seek to understand best practices, utilizing the full depth of knowledge from Mace group, centers of excellence, control center, and knowledge hub. You will mentor assistant cost consultants and junior team members to identify and implement opportunities that enhance cost management procedures, templates, and services provided to stakeholders.Required Qualifications:
Prior experience in a cost consultancy practice in a similar capacity. Essential experience with NEC forms of contract. Expertise in cost planning, budgeting, and estimating. Strong knowledge and capability in contract administration. Familiarity with value engineering and life cycle costing. Comprehensive understanding of industry best practices. Capex vs. opex cost analysis and advisory experience.Mace is an inclusive employer and welcomes applications from a diverse range of candidates.
