About the Role:

As part of our Engineering & Consulting division, you will have the chance to engage in a range of stimulating and innovative projects. Within our highly skilled Subsea and Pipeline Engineering team, you will deliver valuable, specialized engineering support to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

You will lead and contribute to projects across our Engineering and Consultancy Services sectors (Oil and Gas, Offshore Wind, and Low Carbon), with key responsibilities including:
  • Being technically accountable for all pipeline and riser engineering tasks, overseeing and directing the preparation of project deliverables. Depending on project size, you may delegate certain supervisory and specific verification activities to qualified personnel.
  • Leading and participating in concept development and feasibility assessments for complex marginal, HPHT, and deep-water subsea projects in the Oil & Gas sector, as well as the design and analysis of CO2 and H2 pipelines in the Low Carbon sector.
  • Guiding a team to deliver pipeline FEED studies; supervising, reviewing, and verifying pipeline activities, including: Philosophies, Specifications, Routing Studies, Mechanical Design, Material Selection, Corrosion Protection, Stress Analysis, Layouts, Drawings, Datasheets, and Technical Requisitions & Bid Evaluations. Identifying and resolving discrepancies and deviations from the original proposal/contract by raising technical inquiries with projects/clients.
  • Capable of formulating solutions and supervising technically challenging and/or high-profile issues, with support from technical colleagues or the Project Engineering Manager, and effectively communicating with Clients and Senior Management.
  • Acting as the liaison for inter-discipline engineering for projects and being responsible for specific discipline-related activities. Ensuring the successful completion of specific scopes on schedule and within resource hour and budget estimates.
  • Defining a clear scope of work and overseeing the preparation of the Master Document Register (MDR) when necessary. Responsible for planning/scheduling pipeline engineering activities and personnel resources. Quantifying the total number of engineering deliverables, resource-hour allocation, and format of delivery, along with other requirements for executing the work. Providing necessary regular project controls/reporting input to Project Management.
  • Actively engaging in business development, fostering and maintaining client relationships, and contributing to successful proposals and tenders, including reviewing ITB (Invitation to Bid) documents submitted during the proposal stage, preparing resource hour estimates, and drafting technical proposals.
  • Adhering to the Quality Assurance processes and procedures outlined in the Kent Management System (KMS) for successful project delivery.
Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Leading or contributing to pipeline and riser integrity management, life extension, decommissioning studies, failure investigations, consultancy studies, etc.
  • Leading or contributing to subsea cable routing, mechanical design, analysis, and assessment in the Offshore Wind and Oil & Gas sectors.
  • Leading or contributing to analytical or non-linear FE methods to address diverse and complex subsea pipeline and subsea cable challenges.
  • Leading or contributing to the development of onshore pipeline routing criteria and routing maps, considering environmental, safety, land rights, and legal factors.
  • Participating in innovation projects to continually refine and enhance our toolkits for delivering our assessments.
  • Coordinating internal and client audit requests and facilitating audit procedures of engineering systems within the department.
  • Supporting the on-the-job training and development of junior engineers.
  • Participating in recruitment activities such as reviewing CVs and conducting interviews.
  • Elevating Kent's technical profile through strong client relationships and Thought Leadership initiatives.
Your Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • Engineering degree (honours or equivalent) in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Naval Architecture, or a similar engineering discipline.
  • Chartered status.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong coordination, monitoring, and supervisory abilities.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Extensive offshore/subsea pipeline experience. Onshore pipeline experience is considered advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of subsea and pipeline engineering, as well as UK and International regulatory frameworks, codes, and standards. A good understanding of global buckling, limit states, and HPHT issues is considered advantageous.
  • Experience in concept/feasibility design studies for subsea developments; experience in FEED projects.
  • Experience in integrity management of subsea pipelines is considered advantageous.
  • Experience in pipeline analysis to support design and operations; in-depth knowledge of finite element methods is considered advantageous.
  • Experience in the design and analysis of subsea cables is considered advantageous.
  • Experience in the design and assessment of CO2 and H2 onshore and offshore pipelines is considered advantageous.
  • Proven success in delivering studies and preparing clear, concise reports against time, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Enthusiasm to challenge existing practices, improve technical methodologies, and analysis techniques.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, reliable, and mature approach to work.
