Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Audio Engineer to join our team at Sonos, Inc. as a key member of our audio engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing advanced acoustic systems and structures for our products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acoustic System Design

    Design and develop advanced acoustic structures and systems for our products, ensuring optimal performance and quality.

  • Requirements Definition

    Assess hardware performance and define system requirements to ensure top-notch quality, meeting the needs of our customers.

  • Problem Solving

    Tackle complex challenges that span across hardware and software interfaces, finding innovative solutions to drive business growth.

  • Data Analysis and Optimization

    Analyze product data, test samples, and lead the optimization of design for peak performance, ensuring our products meet the highest standards.

  • Technology Roadmap

    Contribute to the strategic development of our technology roadmap, ensuring we stay ahead of the curve and maintain our competitive edge.

  • Mentorship

    Share your expertise and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within our team.

Requirements

  • Educational Background

    Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in acoustics or a related field.

  • Technical Proficiency

    Proficient in building tools for system simulation and data analysis using Matlab or similar software.

  • Measurement Expertise

    Experience performing and interpreting audio measurements in both electronic and acoustic domains, with a strong understanding of audio measurement techniques.

  • Digital Signal Processing

    Solid understanding of the fundamentals of digital signal processing, including signal analysis and processing techniques.

  • Prototype Handling

    Skilled in manipulating physical prototypes to achieve precise acoustic results, with a strong attention to detail.

  • Communication Skills

    Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience articulating technical concepts to cross-functional teams.

  • Product Development

    Proven track record of supporting product development from initial exploration to mass production, with a strong understanding of product development lifecycles.

  • Flexibility to Travel

    Ability to travel overseas as needed to meet project and business requirements, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.

  • Location

    Ability to work full-time in either our Glasgow or London offices, with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Software Programming Experience

    Experience with software programming languages, such as Python or C++.

  • Knowledge of Simulation Software

    Familiarity with simulation software, such as COMSOL or similar tools.

  • Experience with High Volume Production

    Experience supporting high volume production in consumer electronics, with a strong understanding of production processes and workflows.
