Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Audio Engineer to join our team at Sonos, Inc. as a key member of our audio engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing advanced acoustic systems and structures for our products, ensuring top-notch quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acoustic System Design

    Design and develop advanced acoustic structures and systems for our products, leveraging expertise in acoustics and audio engineering.

  • Requirements Definition

    Assess hardware performance and define system requirements to ensure optimal quality and performance.

  • Problem Solving

    Tackle complex challenges that span across hardware and software interfaces, finding innovative solutions to drive business success.

  • Data Analysis and Optimization

    Analyze product data, test samples, and lead the optimization of design for peak performance, ensuring our products meet the highest standards.

  • Technology Roadmap

    Contribute to the strategic development of our technology roadmap, ensuring we stay ahead of the curve and drive innovation in the audio industry.

  • Mentorship

    Share your expertise and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team.

Requirements

  • Educational Background

    Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in acoustics or a related field.

  • Technical Proficiency

    Proficient in building tools for system simulation and data analysis using Matlab or equivalent software.

  • Measurement Expertise

    Experience performing and interpreting audio measurements in both electronic and acoustic domains, with a strong understanding of audio measurement techniques.

  • Digital Signal Processing

    Solid understanding of the fundamentals of digital signal processing and its application in audio engineering.

  • Prototype Handling

    Skilled in manipulating physical prototypes to achieve precise acoustic results, with a strong attention to detail.

  • Communication Skills

    Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience articulating technical concepts to cross-functional teams.

  • Product Development

    Proven track record of supporting product development from initial exploration to mass production, with a focus on delivering high-quality products.

  • Flexibility to Travel

    Ability to travel overseas as needed to meet project and business requirements, with a flexible and adaptable mindset.

  • Location

    Ability to work full-time in either our Glasgow or London offices, with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Software Programming Experience

    Experience with software programming languages, such as Python or C++.

  • Knowledge of Simulation Software

    Familiarity with simulation software, such as COMSOL or equivalent tools.

  • Experience with High Volume Production

    Experience supporting high volume production in consumer electronics, with a focus on delivering high-quality products.
