As an Electric Vehicle (EV) Powertrain Technician, your primary responsibility will involve working with automotive EV Powertrain testing setups for various clients. This encompasses project initiation and troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical assembly, as well as the operation of test facilities.

Key Qualifications:
  • Preferred vocational certification or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering, although significant experience will also be considered
  • Competence in IT, especially with Microsoft applications, to ensure clear and traceable documentation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to learn and adapt independently
  • Understanding of EV powertrain, battery, and hybrid systems
  • Previous experience in testing operations for EV powertrain or hybrid systems
  • Familiarity with both Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) electrical systems
  • This role operates on a rotational shift basis, with Early Shift from 6am to 2pm and Late Shift from 2pm to 10pm
ABOUT THE ROLE

You will join the Transportation Technologies division, which includes two laboratories. One focuses on combustion engine, transmission, and comprehensive powertrain testing services, while the other specializes in testing services for electric vehicle propulsion systems, including electric motors and complete vehicles. This division within Intertek has seen remarkable growth, more than doubling in size every two years since 2015.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Operating multiple test setups outside of standard office hours using designated testing methods and protocols
  • Configuring and calibrating data acquisition systems
  • Troubleshooting and commissioning intricate electronic systems with high-speed serial interfaces (such as CAN/FLEXRAY)
  • Ensuring data integrity meets client specifications
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues, clients, and suppliers
  • Ensuring all instrumentation calibration adheres to company standards
  • Assisting in the implementation and maintenance of safe working practices
