About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Building Control and Regulatory Expert to join our team at ATS Recruitment. As the Head of Building Control and Compliance, you will be responsible for overseeing the building control aspect of our client's business, ensuring compliance with building regulations and associated standards of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical input and advice on building control matters, using your in-depth knowledge and experience of building regulations.
  • Ensure consistent application of technical policies and processes, identifying non-compliance and technical risk, and working with the QA Risk and compliance team to mitigate these.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced Building Control Surveyors, providing guidance and support to ensure a standardized offering of excellent service levels.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Team to assist with tendering and quoting for complex projects, providing technical advice and support.
  • Liaise with QA regarding non-conformances and other issues, ensuring awareness and upholding best practice in respect of all risk management processes.
  • Support the interpretation and communication of regulatory updates, ensuring the highest quality and service standards are met.
  • Uphold building regulations, regulatory codes of conduct, and performance standards, providing day-to-day technical support to the Surveying teams.
  • Liaise with the Operations team, ensuring the appropriate resources are in place within their office through recruitment, retention, and development of talent.
Requirements
  • A comprehensive knowledge of building control through a wide range of industry experience, including complex high-rise buildings, schools, hospitals, hotels, and care homes.
  • Corporate membership of an appropriate recognized professional body (CABE/RICS) and minimum of Level 4 Class Registration.
  • Previous experience as a RBI and a proven track record of ensuring compliance and enforcement of the Building Regulations.
  • Conversant with legislation and the Building Safety Regulatory requirements, including fire and health & safety.
  • Able to work with the minimum supervision in line with established policies & procedures and be able to make pragmatic and value-driven decisions on behalf of the company.
  • Excellent communicator and people management skills at all levels.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Able to build, develop, and maintain relationships (both client & internal) across a mix of different personalities within a wide-ranging business in multiple locations.
