About the Role

The Health Play Specialist is a key member of the Play Team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW), working within the Play Department to deliver high-quality play programmes that meet the emotional, social, developmental, and creative needs of patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' needs to provide specialized play, therapeutic distraction, preparation, and post-procedural play.
  • Develop and implement play programmes that cater to diverse patient needs.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide support for children and young people through play preparation and play programmes.
  • Supervise play assistants, students, and volunteers throughout the hospital.

Requirements

  • Experience of working as a Health Play Specialist with children in a hospital setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of child development.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to motivate others and work under own initiative.
