About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commercial Advisor to join our team at oilandgas. As a key member of our Commercial Operations department, you will play a critical role in drafting and reviewing agreements, negotiating with counterparties, and managing internal approvals.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Commercial and Contractual Advice: Provide accurate pre and post-deal commercial and contractual advice to our trading business, including for new customer value propositions, deal approval forms, and other strategic opportunities.
  2. Agreement Negotiation: Take ownership and accountability for the negotiation of both standardized and complex agreements, working closely with our Legal, Credit, Tax, and Finance functions, as well as Trading, Operations, and Business Development teams.
  3. Process Improvement: Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and minimize risks across our organization.
  4. Compliance and Risk Management: Support our trading business and Contracts team through advice and intervention to ensure compliance with our Shell Control Framework, including SOX controls, Contractual Allocation of Risk Framework (CARF), and Manual of Authorities (MOA).
  5. Contract Management: Maintain accurate records of agreements in negotiation and ensure executed agreements are stored in accordance with our Group Records Management Policy.
  6. Database Management: Assist in maintaining a contract and clause database, as well as manage an efficient status reporting mechanism.
  7. Commercial Analysis: Analyze commercial and contractual structures and communicate clear recommendations on risks and opportunities, using sound commercial judgment.
  8. Regulatory Knowledge: Possess sound knowledge of the Contractual Allocation of Risk Framework principles, including limitation of liability, indemnification, insurance, and pollution liability clauses, and be able to complete all CARF requirements for relevant contracts.
  9. Problem-Solving: Identify risks and inefficiencies in existing processes, solve problems, and implement improvements.
  10. Industry Knowledge: Have knowledge of energy market fundamentals, risk management, and regulations.
  11. Legal Acumen: Understand legal contracts and landscape.
