Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled People Relations Specialist to join our team at JD Sports. As a key member of our HR function, you will provide expert advice and guidance on employee relations matters, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate advice on disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and family-friendly policies to employees and managers.
  • Manage employee queries empathetically and communicate outcomes clearly and articulately, minimizing appeals.
  • Act as a team player with the wider People team, sharing knowledge and best practices to drive business results.
  • Support and coach Line Managers to effectively manage and resolve employee relations matters.
  • Provide support to the People management team during critical periods, ensuring employee relations policies and procedures are fairly and proportionately applied.
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of up-to-date employment legislation, best practices, and case law.
  • Work autonomously, prioritizing tasks and seeking guidance and support from the People Relations management team as needed.
  • Use Occupational Health appropriately within people relations casework and write referrals to OH Advisors.
  • Maintain clear audit trails for all People records in accordance with GDPR.
  • Support the execution of critical weekly, lunar, monthly, and annual cycle People processes.

Requirements:

  • CIPD qualified to a minimum of Level 5, or Level 3 with substantial relevant HR generalist-based work experience.
  • Previous HR/People Advisor experience is essential, with a background in managing high-volume complex employee relations cases.
  • Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and People Relations policies and procedures.
  • Comfortable offering advice and minute-taking in formal meetings, ensuring accurate documentation and conduct.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to guide and influence, and the confidence to challenge current practices where necessary.
  • Able to communicate clearly and articulately with all stakeholders throughout the employee relations process.
  • Proficient knowledge of Office365 and HR Systems, with previous experience of CoreHR/PeopleXD being advantageous.
  • Accurate typing skills, recognizing the need for attention to detail.
  • Proven experience of working within a constantly changing business environment.
  • Flexible to work outside of standard office hours if required to support a 24/7 business.
