Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Empowerment Specialist to join our dynamic Leaving Care Team. As an Empowerment Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting care leavers as they transition from the care system into independent adulthood.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Care Leavers: Provide guidance and support to young people as they navigate the transition from care to independence, ensuring their needs are met according to statutory guidelines.
- Engage with Young People: Build trusting relationships through direct work with care leavers and key figures in their lives.
- Duty System Participation: Assist in urgent cases as part of the office-based duty system.
- Ensure Safety: Promote the safety and protection of young people, with a focus on preventing exploitation.
- Promote Independence: Organize community-based activities to support the development of independence and integration into adult life.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, attending relevant meetings, training, and events.
- Service Improvement: Play an active role in the ongoing development of the Leaving Care Service.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Care of Children and Young People, or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience: Previous experience working with vulnerable children and young people in a similar role.
- Safeguarding Knowledge: Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
- Relationship Building: Ability to connect with and support young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
