Job Title: Graduate Building Surveyor

Job Summary:

Farrans (Construction) Limited is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Building Surveyor to join our team. As a Graduate Building Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Coordination: Collaborate with senior experts to optimize project costs and risks, ensuring top-notch quality and compliance with building regulations.
  2. Contract Management: Review conditions and/or qualifications and assist with drafting and negotiating contract types prior to submission of a tender.
  3. Interim Applications: Ensure the preparation of interim applications, including works executed, materials on site, and works by subcontractors is submitted to the Client's team by agreed deadline.
  4. Commercial and Contractual Risk Management: Evaluate, measure, and recover contract variations, gather records to confirm additional payments where required, and defend claims received from subcontractors.
  5. Dispute Resolution: Assist with the procurement of subcontractors and be responsible for effective dispute resolution.
  6. Financial Management: Generate payments and distribute notices to suppliers and subcontractors, including the measurement of works and differences executed to evaluate final costs and accounts.
  7. Weekly Financial Forecasting: Contribute to the submission of weekly financial forecasting, including the assembling of contract costs.
  8. Estimates and Costs: Prepare estimates and costs of the work when the project is in progress, and keep records of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability.

Requirements:

  1. Civil Engineering Degree: Hold a Civil Engineering Degree with a 2:2 or higher.
  2. Driving License: Hold a full UK manual driving license.
  3. Passion for Civils Industry: Be passionate about starting a career in the civils industry.
  4. Attention to Detail: Demonstrate a high attention to detail coupled with meticulous planning and organizational skills.
  5. Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, able to work flexibly in a team, and be a hard worker.

Living away from home allowance is applicable for this role, and we cover all accommodation costs, provide a daily allowance, and cover travel costs.
