Position Overview

The primary objective of this role is to foster sustainable growth within the Fire Division by cultivating and leading a proficient team that adheres to the Securitas Toolbox and Core Values. This includes delivering exceptional service to clients, enhancing operational efficiency, and broadening the service portfolio.

The Fire Safety Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping, overseeing, and executing Securitas' comprehensive strategy for fire safety, collaborating closely with internal Property Teams, the Primary Fire Authority, and various regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

The Fire Safety Operations Manager will ensure that clients comply with all legal requirements concerning fire safety regulations and that their properties meet the health and safety obligations of landlords.

This position will be based nationally, with potential responsibilities extending to regional sites as the fire safety management system evolves.

  • Under the guidance of the Director of Fire Safety & Aviation, formulate, execute, and assess safety policies, strategies, and annual action plans.
  • Conduct Fire Risk Assessments as necessary and create timely action plans.
  • Supervise and assist Property Teams in the prompt completion of Fire Risk Assessments and necessary fire safety actions.
  • Take charge of fire/local authority enforcement action plans and engage relevant stakeholders to ensure timely execution.
  • Develop and implement effective training, instruction, and communication strategies to relay critical fire safety advice.
  • Inform employees, leadership teams, and senior management about updates in fire safety legislation.
  • Conduct audits of managed properties to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Investigate and document incidents, dangerous occurrences, and near-misses, maintaining accurate records and ensuring RIDDOR incidents are reported appropriately.
  • Prepare monthly reports for the Director of Fire Safety & Aviation covering all fire safety-related matters, events, and projects.
  • Participate in the group Safety Committee as needed to promote best practices.
  • Collaborate with Securitas' Environmental Health & Safety Department.
  • Develop and maintain competencies to support the broader objectives of the Fire & Aviation Division, including Aviation Fire & Security and ad hoc Branch support.
Performance Expectations

Deliver results that align with established Business Plans, including:

  • Careful monitoring and management of all direct costs to maximize efficiency while maintaining appropriate service levels for each contract.
  • Effective oversight of all indirect costs to ensure they meet operational requirements.
  • Guaranteeing the successful completion of all fire safety tasks to achieve high customer satisfaction and legal compliance.
  • Managing fire risk assessment programs and ensuring robust systems are in place for effective fire safety management.
  • Providing leadership and expert technical guidance to ensure compliance with all fire safety aspects across all assets, while continuously improving services.
  • Assisting in the procurement of contractors for fire safety projects.
  • Ensuring that fire risk assessments, inspections, and audits are conducted across the facilities contract.
  • Preparing fire safety reports and statistical data for clients, management, or board committees as required.
  • Designing and implementing customer-focused fire safety awareness programs to enhance understanding of fire safety regulations.
  • Collaborating with all staff and operatives to provide technical advice and support regarding fire safety.
  • Supporting existing and new Securitas Fire-related contingency contracts.
Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in the Fire Safety industry, property management, or a related field.
  • A 5-year checkable history; candidates must be capable of obtaining CTC or SC clearances.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • A full, clean UK driving license.
  • A fire safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH Fire Certificate or IFE Level 3/4 Certificate in Fire Science.
  • A health and safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
  • Membership in a recognized professional body, such as IFE, IOSH, or IIRSM, with evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Experience in managing or advising on fire safety within medium to large organizations, including policy and strategy development.
  • The ability to investigate incidents or potential breaches of fire safety regulations and report findings professionally and promptly.
  • A working knowledge of building fire safety systems and mechanical & electrical systems.
Desirable Qualifications

Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:

  • Full membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers (MIFireE).
  • Technical or full membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (TechIOSH/MIOSH) or equivalent.
  • 3rd Party qualified risk assessor registered as per FRA Competency Council.
  • Training and effective delivery-related qualifications.
  • Familiarity with the PAS:79:2012 format of fire risk assessment.
  • Previous experience in the service sector.
