Job Title: District Manager

Waste Connections of Canada Inc., a leading provider of non-hazardous solid waste management services in North America, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced District Manager to lead our operations in Peterborough, ON.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic operations plans, managing a team of approximately 50 employees, and overseeing the day-to-day activities of our Peterborough District operation. This includes managing a hauling operation with approximately 40 routes, a Material Recovery Facility (MRF), and a Transfer Station.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement procedures and systems to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations;
  • Manage the district's financial performance, including forecasting, monitoring, and reporting;
  • Develop and implement sales plans to grow revenue and optimize customer service levels;
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, including coaching, training, and performance management;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives and drive growth;
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities, including strategic acquisitions and partnerships;
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and community leaders.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior operations management and/or sales management role;
  • Prior transportation/logistics experience is an asset;
  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in business/commerce;
  • Excellent planning, strategy, and analytical skills;
  • Highly developed leadership and entrepreneurial skills;
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills;
  • Proven track record in meeting business plan objectives.
