About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry to join our team at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients with primarily functional illness on the Maples ward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical input to the day-to-day functioning of the ward, including the admission and treatment of patients.
  • Conduct psychiatric reviews of service users, supporting a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Participate in team handovers, ward rounds, and multidisciplinary Care Programme Approach (CPA) reviews.
  • Work effectively to facilitate timely discharge of patients from hospital.
  • Ensure effective and timely documentation, including admission and discharge summaries, Mental Health Act reports, progress notes, and communicating clinical decision making and management plans to relevant parties.
  • Liaise with partner agencies, including acute hospitals, social services, primary care, and private and voluntary agencies to ensure effective joint working in the provision of care to service users.
Person Specification
  • Full GMC registration and licence to practice with the General Medical Council.
  • MBBS or equivalent formal qualification.
  • Completed minimum of 4 years full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent) of which 2 will be in a specialty training programme in psychiatry or as a fixed-term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty.
  • Experience engaging in and delivering clinical supervision and training.
  • Proven experience of good working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team.
