Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry Position

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry to join our team at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide oversight and psychiatric treatment for 22 beds for patients with primarily functional illness on the Maples ward.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing medical input to the day-to-day functioning of the ward, including the admission and treatment of patients.
- Conducting psychiatric reviews of service users, supporting a multidisciplinary approach.
- Participating in team handovers, ward rounds, and multidisciplinary Care Programme Approach (CPA) reviews.
- Working effectively to facilitate timely discharge of patients from hospital.
- Ensuring effective and timely documentation, including admission and discharge summaries, Mental Health Act reports, progress notes, and communicating clinical decision-making and management plans to relevant parties.
- Liaising with partner agencies, including acute hospitals, social services, primary care, and private and voluntary agencies to ensure effective joint working in the provision of care to service users.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Full GMC registration and licence to practice with the General Medical Council.
- MBBS or equivalent formal qualification.
- Completed a minimum of 4 years full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent) in a specialty training programme in psychiatry or as a fixed-term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty.
- Experience engaging in and delivering clinical supervision and training.
- Proven experience of good working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team.
