About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Engineer to lead our technical activities for the Class 175 Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) fleet. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the technical engineering and safety requirements of our Safety Management System (SMS).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Fleet Engineering activities for the DMU fleet, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Assist Depot teams in the introduction of new processes and support systems for the new fleet, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Manage technical engineering, safety monitoring, and performance improvement initiatives for the fleet.
  • Identify, investigate, and address safety-related issues to maintain an acceptable safety performance.
  • Liaise with Vehicle owners and design authorities to ensure compliance with leases and best value for GWR and its customers.
  • Represent GWR at relevant industry groups and facilitate collaboration with Depot Engineering Managers and their teams.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years' experience in Technical and Railway Systems (T&RS) maintenance and repair.
  • Chartered Engineer or possessing qualifications leading to chartered status, with a minimum requirement of a qualified technician in railway T&RS maintenance and repair.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-directed, and able to lead teams and inter-directorate teams to identify and resolve safety issues and develop reliability improvement plans.
  • Flexible and able to work alone and in a team, with the ability to work away from home location for short periods as required.
