As an Autism Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with learning difficulties, including autism, sensory impairments, physical difficulties, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and associated challenging behaviors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to students with autism and other special needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and specialist staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as personal care and hygiene
  • Support students with behavioral challenges and develop strategies to promote positive behavior
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment

Requirements

  • Psychology Graduate degree or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient in stressful situations
  • High levels of empathy and compassion
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
