Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the foremost of Scotland's seven regional transport partnerships, overseeing the Glasgow Subway, various specialized bus services, and striving to enhance public transportation for everyone.

Project Overview

The Subway has undergone two significant modernization phases, with the latest transformation occurring in the late 1970s. We are currently engaged in a £288 million revitalization initiative aimed at making the Subway one of the most sophisticated systems in Europe. This is a chance to contribute to the future of the Subway, assisting in the implementation of the first full Unattended Train Operation (UTO) system in the UK.

Role Summary

The Logistics Support Assistant (Stores Person) plays a crucial role in ensuring the Subway operates efficiently. Responsibilities include organizing and assembling materials to facilitate all Subway maintenance operations. You will utilize inventory management systems to issue components to customers and manage purchase orders. The role also involves performing forklift operations, conducting daily checks, coordinating with suppliers, and overseeing the management of calibrated tools.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be highly driven, dependable, and capable. Experience as a Logistics Support Assistant (Stores Person) and in parts kitting is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. Familiarity with forklift operations, digital stock control systems, and conducting stock audits and inspections is also necessary.

A proactive mindset is essential, along with the ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and respond to evolving demands. Strong communication skills are required, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
