Specific Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday- 09:00am-17:00pm) with flexibility in the rota, as agreed with your line manager. Responsible for: Team Leaders, Residential Support Workers. Job Purpose:
To ensure that the needs of young individuals in Headway's care are met, providing a nurturing and secure living environment. Additionally, to lead and manage the Team Leaders and Residential Support Workers to deliver high-quality childcare, while collaborating with the Children's Home Manager to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the residential home, facilitating positive outcomes for the young people.


Main Responsibilities:

To work off shift in collaboration with the Dual Registered Manager, ensuring the Home operates efficiently and effectively, maintaining high standards and safeguarding young individuals at all times.

To foster a homely atmosphere for the young people in our care, considering their perspectives, wishes, and feelings.

To oversee a team of staff and act as a deputy for the Dual Registered Manager in their absence, providing supervision in line with company policy.

To adhere to the Company's Safeguarding Policies and Procedures, including Whistleblowing protocols, reporting any concerns to the designated Safeguarding Officer immediately, recognizing that the safety of children in our care is paramount and safeguarding is a fundamental responsibility of every employee at Headway.

To maintain a comprehensive and current understanding of the Home's Statement of Purpose, Policies and Procedures, relevant legislation, and to impart this knowledge to all staff, promoting best practices while ensuring confidentiality.

To encourage effective multi-agency collaboration and foster positive relationships with all staff, the local community, local authorities, other professional agencies, and significant individuals in a young person's life.

To uphold and enforce company guidelines on Codes of Conduct, serving as a role model within the home and mentoring staff.

To assist in the development and implementation of objectives outlined in the young person's Plans.

To ensure the staff team actively participates in the review and monitoring process for Care Planning and adheres to the Key Worker system.

To advocate for anti-discriminatory and equal opportunity practices in accordance with Company Policy.

To implement and enforce legislation and company policies regarding Health & Safety, Fire Safety, and Data Protection.

To attend all mandatory training sessions and, when necessary, deliver in-house training courses while supporting QCF learners.

To participate in the on-call Rota as required, being available to cover shifts when on-call options are exhausted, and to maintain on-call records.

To ensure the responsible use of the petty cash budget, balancing it at the end of each shift, managing additional funds effectively, and monitoring the home's budget as directed by the Home Manager.

To undertake additional duties as outlined in Appendix A and other responsibilities as may be revised by the Company.


Special Conditions:
The individual in this role will be required to schedule annual leave at different times than the Dual Registered Manager.

About You:
Good overall educational background.
Working towards or holding a Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
Up-to-date knowledge of Child Care legislation, children's home regulations, and quality standards.
Possession of a QCF Level 3 qualification or willingness to pursue one.
Commitment to commence a relevant Level 5 Diploma within six months of appointment and successful completion of the probation period, if not already qualified at this level.
A minimum of two years' experience working directly with young individuals exhibiting challenging behavior.
Experience collaborating with external agencies, professionals, parents, and families.
Experience participating in reviews, planning meetings, etc.
Excellent report writing and numeracy skills.
Well-organized with strong administrative and IT capabilities.
Able to connect with young individuals empathetically and dedicated to high standards of childcare to achieve the best outcomes for those in care.
Demonstrated motivational, management, and leadership potential, capable of supervising, supporting, and developing Team Leaders and Residential Support Workers to foster a cohesive team.
The successful candidate will undergo an enhanced DBS check upon selection for the position.
Must possess a full, clean UK Driving Licence (manual).
