About the Role

The Head of Learning and Development will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of employees at Birtwistles Catering Butchers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs to meet the needs of the business and employees, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Training Materials: Create and maintain high-quality training materials, including work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, and training manuals.
  • Evaluation and Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and identify areas for improvement, implementing changes to ensure maximum benefit to employees and the business.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the Technical Team to ensure training material is compliant with Food Safety Standards, and communicate effectively with employees and management to ensure training needs are met.
  • Training Matrix and Records: Own, update, and maintain the training matrix and training records, ensuring all related paperwork is completed.
  • Individual Development Plans: Partner with managers to create, develop, and support individual development plans, creating course content tailored to individual requirements.
  • Training and Assessment: Maintain, develop, and deliver an effective factory training, assessment, and development process that meets the needs of the business and customer requirements.
  • People Culture: Collaborate with managers and employees to drive, embed, and grow our people culture.
  • Training Team Development: Develop and monitor the progress of the Training team.
  • Health and Safety Training: Deliver/support Health and Safety Training and head up the Health and Safety Committee.
Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning and Development professional with a strong background in training and development, preferably in a manufacturing or food industry setting.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.

They will also have a high degree of flexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities.

A driving licence is essential for this role.

  • Health and Safety Experience: Experience and involvement in health and safety as either a representative or committee member.
  • Customer Focus: Passionate with clear customer focus and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Assessor Qualification: Competent assessor.
