Role Summary

This position is integral to the central finance division of GroupM UK, focusing on the financial reporting for various agencies. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with both the GroupM team and the Agency Commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly Financial Reporting: Ensure timely submission of management accounts, providing insightful commentary on variances and conducting thorough investigations into discrepancies.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Conduct comprehensive reconciliations with detailed commentary, ensuring all accounts are accurate and well-supported.
  • SOX Compliance: Prepare and submit monthly SOX documentation in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Audit Preparation: Organize necessary documentation for audits, ensuring all materials are readily available for auditors.
  • Intercompany Transactions: Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Present financial data to various stakeholders, fostering strong relationships across departments.

Group/WPP Reporting Duties

  • Prepare management reports and supporting documentation, ensuring alignment with P&L and balance sheet.
  • Submit timely commentaries to EMEA and liaise with them to resolve any queries.
  • Compile and submit monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial packages.

Compliance and Process Improvement

  • Ensure adherence to company policies and SOX regulations.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance existing processes to improve efficiency and control.
  • Develop a deep understanding of business operations and customer needs.

Success Metrics

  • Accuracy and timeliness of reports
  • Effective balance sheet management
  • Compliance with WPP accounting policies
  • Completion of responsibilities aligned with GroupM objectives

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Part or fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) with relevant experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage workload effectively.
  • Excellent analytical and reconciliation capabilities.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Desired Experience

  • Familiarity with financial software such as DDS / Media Ocean and Cartesis / BFC.
