Investment and Accounting Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Investment and Accounting Specialist to join our Pensions team in Preston on a 12-18 month contract.

The successful candidate will support the Trustee Board and Pensions Executive with investment and accounting-related projects to enhance the pension risk management framework and provide solutions to the team's leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and implement an appropriate investment governance structure
  • Review the current position regarding tax reclaims and complete actions to ensure all tax claims available have been/will be received
  • Review the current accounting processes with the internal Finance team
  • Identify and implement improvements to ensure the monthly management accounts and the annual statutory accounts process and the audit process is as efficient and accurate as possible
  • Support the Trustee Board and Pensions team with the auditor selection exercise
  • Support the Trustee Board and Pensions team with the development of the 2025 Scheme budget using the zero-based budgeting model
  • Review and improve the current approvals process, budget monitoring and reporting process with the internal Finance team

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in investment governance, accounting, or financial analysis, preferably within the pensions sector
  • Understanding of pension fund regulations and compliance requirements
  • Proven track record of preparing financial reports
