Job Overview

Brakes, a division of Sysco GB, is on the lookout for a Product Innovation Specialist to become a key member of our team in a full-time, permanent role. In this position, you will engage with various product categories within the merchandising department, collaborating closely with procurement, technical, category, and supply chain teams to achieve the broader business strategy objectives.

Your responsibilities will include assisting in the comprehensive development process to streamline project delivery across different categories. You will have the opportunity to learn from development managers, gaining valuable insights into the entire development journey from concept to market launch. Additionally, you will be trained to manage a specific product group within a category or a supplier, focusing on ongoing development and career advancement.

This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring you to be present in our Ashford, Kent office three days a week for team collaboration. Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance and willing to travel regularly across the UK, with occasional trips to European or international locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in all food panels for both existing and new product development.
  • Conduct product quality benchmarking.
  • Coordinate sample requests for external clients.
  • Draft supplier-facing product development briefs for new product development (NPD) and existing product development (EPD).
  • Review and validate initial supplier specifications.
  • Track and monitor the end-to-end new line setup process.
  • Support the implementation of Sysco's product tiering strategy.
  • Manage critical timelines for tasks associated with each project.
  • Source all food samples internally and externally for panels and benchmarking purposes.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food and have prior experience in food product development, ideally within the food technology, manufacturing, or hospitality sectors. You should have some background in project management and demonstrate commercial awareness, along with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. A strong capacity to work both independently and collaboratively to meet objectives is essential.

Successful applicants must hold a valid UK Driving License and have access to their own vehicle.
