Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom Inotiv Full time

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance Department at Inotiv. This pivotal role will contribute significantly to our ongoing expansion across the EMEA region. The successful candidate will assist the Finance Manager by executing routine accounting functions, overseeing month-end activities, mentoring team members, and participating in various special projects. Additionally, this position may require stepping in for the Finance Manager as needed.

The individual will be responsible for specific country accounting, primarily focusing on the UK while providing support for other regions as necessary.

You will play a crucial role in delivering accurate and timely financial information to key stakeholders, ensuring expertise in significant accounting transactions within your jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

How this position contributes to organizational success:

As a seasoned accountant, you will thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, engaging in a wide array of accounting responsibilities that uphold our commitment to financial precision. Key tasks include:

EMEA Accounting Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the preparation and finalization of monthly financial statements, ensuring compliance with both Group reporting GAAP and the applicable GAAP for the countries where our legal entities operate.
  • Preparing statutory accounting files and associated documentation for external auditors' review and approval.
  • Leading the coordination of external audit activities, providing support to the Finance Manager.
  • Ensuring robust balance sheet management through monthly reconciliations and reviews, including training and guiding junior team members in their balance sheet duties.
  • Conducting monthly profit and loss analyses in collaboration with FP&A colleagues, verifying that income and expenses are recorded under the correct accounting codes.
  • Offering constructive feedback to both Finance and non-Finance colleagues to facilitate accounting corrections at the source, thereby minimizing the need for manual reclassifications.
  • Maintaining routine monthly postings and documenting processes to comply with SOX and other internal audit requirements.
  • Cultivating relationships and collaborating with external partners such as tax advisors and auditors.
  • Assisting corporate and FP&A teams with technical accounting inquiries and challenges.
  • Supporting Corporation Tax reporting and submissions, working alongside the Tax team to address accounting entry queries and providing additional financial analysis to assist the Finance Manager.
  • Managing the fixed asset register by recording asset additions, overseeing entries for assets under construction, processing asset disposals, and reconciling against budget.
  • Administering the accounting for authorized capital expenditure projects, ensuring all necessary documentation is in place while collaborating effectively with Finance and non-Finance colleagues.
  • Identifying and recording prepayments and accruals, ensuring supporting documentation is adequately maintained.
  • Reviewing intercompany account reconciliations for EMEA entities on a monthly basis, coaching and supporting AR and AP team members in completing reconciliations, accounting entries, and payments, and advising the Finance Director on proposed settlements to maintain clean balances and enhance overall cash management.
  • Assisting the Finance Manager in process improvements to optimize the accounting function, identifying control weaknesses, and proposing solutions.
  • Supporting the EMEA business with various projects and ad hoc tasks, which may include accounting for site tenants and collaborating with relevant customer service teams on invoicing and reconciliations, ensuring audit documentation is properly organized.

Qualifications

  • Part-Qualified or Qualified ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent international qualification).
  • If Part-Qualified, actively pursuing full qualification (study support will be provided).
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities with a proven track record of managing diverse workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Excel, with moderate to advanced skills.
  • Capability to mentor and develop others through knowledge sharing and task training.
  • Experience with ERP systems is essential; familiarity with JDE is a plus.
