Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Financial Accountant to join our Finance Department at Inotiv. This pivotal role will contribute significantly to our growth across the EMEA region. You will assist the Finance Manager by executing routine accounting functions, managing month-end activities, mentoring team members, and participating in various projects as needed. On occasion, you may represent the Finance Manager in their absence.

The position will require you to take ownership of specific country accounting responsibilities, primarily focusing on the UK while providing support for other regions as necessary.

Your expertise will be crucial in delivering accurate and timely financial information to the Company's key decision-makers, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and practices.

EMEA Accounting Duties

  • Overseeing the preparation and finalisation of monthly financial statements, ensuring compliance with both Group reporting GAAP and local GAAP applicable to the countries where our legal entities operate.
  • Preparing statutory accounting statements for the UK and related documentation for external auditors.
  • Leading the coordination of external audit activities, providing support to the Finance Manager.
  • Ensuring robust balance sheet management through monthly reconciliations and reviews, while mentoring junior team members in their balance sheet tasks.
  • Conducting monthly profit and loss reviews in collaboration with FP&A colleagues, verifying that all income and expenses are recorded accurately.
  • Offering constructive feedback to both Finance and non-Finance colleagues to facilitate accounting corrections at the source, thereby minimizing manual adjustments.
  • Maintaining routine monthly postings and documenting processes to comply with SOX and internal audit requirements.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with external partners, including tax advisors and auditors.
  • Assisting corporate and FP&A teams with technical accounting inquiries and challenges.
  • Supporting Corporation Tax reporting and returns, collaborating with the Tax team to address accounting entry queries and providing additional financial analysis for the Finance Manager.
  • Managing the fixed asset register, including posting additions, overseeing assets under construction, and reconciling disposals against budget.
  • Administering the accounting for authorised capital expenditure projects, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared in collaboration with Finance and non-Finance colleagues.
  • Identifying and recording prepayments and accruals, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
  • Reviewing intercompany account reconciliations for EMEA entities monthly, coaching AR and AP team members in reconciliation processes and advising the Director of Finance on settlement proposals to maintain clean balances and enhance cash management.
  • Collaborating with the Finance Manager on process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the accounting function, identifying control weaknesses and proposing solutions.
  • Supporting the EMEA business with various projects and ad hoc tasks, such as assisting with tenant accounting and coordinating with customer service teams on invoicing and reconciliations, ensuring audit documentation is complete.

Qualifications

  • Part-Qualified or Qualified ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent).
  • If part-qualified, actively pursuing full qualification (study support will be provided).
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a diverse workload effectively.
  • Proficient in Excel, with moderate to advanced skills.
  • Capability to mentor and develop team members through knowledge sharing and training.
  • Experience with ERP systems is essential; familiarity with JDE is a plus.
