The Role: Piping Designer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Piping Designer to join our Engineering Team at Babcock LGE in Rosyth. In this role, you will play a key part in the design and development of piping systems for liquefied gas carriers and other oil & gas marine projects.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Generate detailed Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Develop 3D models of plant layouts, skid structures, and pipework arrangements. Produce output drawings and documents, including plant general arrangements, piping isometrics, structural detailing, process equipment and pressure vessel details, and material take-offs.
  • Interpret vendor equipment drawings for seamless integration into CAD models
  • Participate actively in design reviews and client pipework reviews
  • Create detailed drawings for mechanical and process equipment, tanks, and other components
  • Thoroughly check all aforementioned drawings for accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate effectively with Engineering disciplines, Project Management, and other internal functions to ensure project success.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a relevant CAD role, producing high-quality 3D piping models, plant layouts, and piping isometric drawings.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative design team.
  • Strong understanding of process piping components, routing practices, inline equipment, and instrumentation interfaces.
  • Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs.
  • Commercial design awareness and appreciation for the practical impact of design decisions.
  • Highly motivated with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • HNC in a relevant discipline or equivalent academic qualification and demonstrable experience.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain the necessary security clearance for this role.
