Lead Electrical Engineer for Hydropower Projects

Stantec is at the forefront of some of the most significant and intricate hydropower initiatives globally. We are expanding our team and are in search of a Senior Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design and advancement of innovative hydropower and pumped storage hydro projects. This position offers flexibility in location across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be instrumental in various phases of hydropower projects, including:
- Conducting feasibility studies and developing concept designs.
- Leading the electrical engineering design for hydropower systems, focusing on generators, control systems, instrumentation, protection, substations, and transmission lines.
- Performing design analysis and modeling of electrical and electronic systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and project feasibility.
- Collaborating with the transmission and distribution sector on significant grid upgrade projects.
- Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Working in conjunction with civil, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure a cohesive project design.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the IET.
- Experience with large rotating machinery, particularly generators or motors.
- Desirable experience in hydro or pumped storage hydro systems, although not mandatory.
- Familiarity with producing and interpreting design documents, including single line diagrams, load schedules, and specifications.
- Strong communication skills for technical presentations and collaborative design discussions.
